Hi Everbody - I'm sorry Trish and I will miss you ... and the Turducken. We're in Rochester (her parents' place) for Christmas and New Year.
|
| I have medical news. Some may recall Trish was feeling very unwell at last year's gettogether, and that she's been chronically ill for nearly two years. Anyway, we have a diagnosis (about which I need to learn more - I have a lot of questions for the doctor). It seems to be a "Primary Immune Deficiency" - I think "Gamma Globulin Deficiency". One of my questions is whether the previous diagnosis (Undifferentied Autoimmune Disorder) is a cause, an effect, or a misdiagnosis. Anyway, the treatment for this deficiency is IVIG - intravenous immunoglobin (also known as IGIV) which is essentially a large infusion of other people's concentrated antibodies. After several weeks trouble with our insurance company (a technical problem with them not recongizing our Doctor, not a problem with them not wanting to cover the treatement) Trish got the first IVIG treatment on Thursday. Needless to say, we hope it works out.
