This is the first year that we've allowed our cats free access to the Christmas tree.  In years past, we've blocked off access to the living room when we're not home.  The tree's been up for 4 days and it's still standing.  Out of curiosity, I thought I'd look around and see what kind of damage cats can do to Christmas trees - the horror!

apparently this was all the rage a couple months ago, but at my age I'm allowed to lag behind the trendy curve.  There's this toy, not really a game, since you cannot really win, called Line Rider.  Its a toboggan simulator written in Flash.  You draw the slope, click go and watch the guy ride the hill.  Drawing hills can get old quick, for some at least, but watching the super involved tracks people have posted at You Tube can provide hours of entertainment, for some.  Just search with "line rider".

Tour Scandal and Floyd
By Tony
from the Tony department, Section News
Posted on Thu Nov 02, 2006 at 09:52:57 PM PST
A few of you may be interested in this.  There's a cycling forum at wwww.dailypeloton.com - click on "new DP forums" and you can navigate yourself from there.  Basically, there's been much discussion about Floyd Landis and his positive drugtest; basically his testostrone/estrogen (T/E) ratio was out of the allowable bracket.  What's of note about this forum is that Floyd is participating; yes that FLOYD.  His username is, well, it's "floyd" not that cryptic, I know.

Of note, and I heard this on a podcast Gladys has downloaded for me and not the fourm is that Floyd's ride on stage 17 of the TdF was not remarkable under statistical analysis.  What I mean by that is that Floyd didn't make up any time on the peloton during the climbs; he gained his advantage during the descents.  Also, he was the only rider on that stage that had a team car next to him for the duration of his breakaway, and dumped an incredible amount of water over himself to keep his core temperature low during a day when temperatures were 38-42°C.

Floyd is not only defending himself against critics, but he's trying to mount what his team calls the "Wikipedia defense" - they're looking for participation from the forum members (many of whom have the professional credentials to follow critically the procedures and protocols of a drug test) in mounting a defense.
